Pollinator Paradise Project

Pollinator Paradise Project

Pollinators such as bees and butterflies are essential for agriculture and wild ecosystems. Yet, their populations are in rapid decline due to loss of habitat and food sources, disease and pesticides. Terrapure, in partnership with Environment Hamilton and Hamilton Naturalists’ Club, is helping address this critical issue.

We are creating pollinator friendly gardens of milkweed and wild flowers at the Heritage Green Passive Park (a closed landfill). Gardens provide an important and much needed habitat to attract pollinators. The goal is to create a “pollinator highway,” an uninterrupted haven of native plants that will provide food and shelter for pollinators across Hamilton.
